About The Position

The Deputy Security Operations Manager is an armed supervisor, who has successfully completed the required NASA training, with NASA Federal arrest authority and Federal Magistrate Training, and is primarily responsible for assisting the Site Manager/Security Operations Manager with management of all security personnel, and the performance, and completion of all security related PWS tasks for the NPSC. The Deputy serves as the second in charge of the security functional task area. Responsible to ensuring that security personnel comply with all related federal, state, local, NASA and KSC policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

Minimum of an associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
10 Years managing contract Law Enforcement personnel of at least 100 armed personnel or 15 years Supervisor of at least 50-armed law enforcement employees
Two years of progressively responsible general experience gained in analytical decision making and administrative work and activities.
Knowledge and/or experience in project management and business rules.
Knowledgeable in the application of intrusion detection devices and electronic security systems.
Strong personnel management skills; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Superior knowledge, analytical, persuasion, and problem-solving skills relative to health, safety, environmental, and business matters.
Ability to manage multiple, high priority tasks simultaneously.
Capable of assimilating and critically evaluating information.
Successfully completed all training and have obtained all required permits, licenses, certifications and security/medical clearances for the site.
Equivalent education/experience is applicable.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida state driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance, but not required to start.
Must be able to meet drug testing and alcohol – free workforce requirements to include random drug and/or alcohol testing.
Have no felony convictions and no convictions that reflect on the individual’s reliability including those crimes classified under the Lautenberg Act.
Must be able to maintain and qualify periodically on a course of fire with handgun, or other special weapons.
Must be able to meet and maintain NASA Physical Certifications and complete a Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory -2 (MMPI-2) and Shipley Institute of Living Scale psychological examinations.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Responsibilities

Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner.
Assists the Site Manager with any duties assigned.
The Deputy shall maintain, recommend updates and ensure compliance with the internal Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) for security.
Administers instructions to all personnel assigned to their area and assures that all employees assigned are familiar with the facility and their duties.
Will ensure that all employees assigned to their shift receive and understand new, changed, or special instructions.
Accountable for the proper use and maintenance of all equipment used at the site by the employees assigned to the area.
Maintain all field file personnel records of employees assigned to the area. These records include, but are not limited to, time and attendance, disciplinary actions, recommendations for promotions, demotions, status/payroll change reports, etc.
Manages the staffing of posts to ensure complete coverage. This includes, but is not limited to, coverage for vacations, illness, and call-offs.
Will promptly notify the Site Manager of all unusual, emergency, and/or significant situations/factors concerning security personnel at the site.
Will review and ensure clarity, completeness, accuracy, and legibility of all human resources forms, written reports and logbook entries before distribution is made.
Keeps post orders and operations manual accurate and up to date.
Takes charge and directs security personnel in any unusual or emergency situations requiring immediate and necessary action in the absence of the Site Manager.
Will conduct unannounced inspections on all shifts to assess the officers’ performance.
Must be able to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays if needed.
As a critical position will be required to report and remain available for emergency duty in expectation of a hurricane, other disaster, or declared emergency.
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
