About The Position

In close collaboration with the Senior Director of National Organizing and senior leaders across the organization, the Deputy National Organizing Director for Training will set the vision for building and scaling training programs that touch multiple volunteer/member and staff audiences across Reproductive Freedom for All. Additionally, in close collaboration with senior directors across the organization, the Deputy National Organizing Director for Training is responsible for supporting the success of National and State Campaign programs via creating and implementing training curriculum design and implementation; from training and onboarding staff at various levels, to developing and executing training calendars across multiple volunteer audiences, to helping develop the curriculum for leadership and volunteer leader retreats. The Senior Director will lead department-wide efforts to evaluate and elevate staff and volunteer skills, building scalable systems that grow volunteer capacity and maximize voter contact. The Senior Director of National Organizing will also be responsible for mentoring, developing, and guiding staff that support training programs and initiatives; The ideal candidate can analyze around and facilitate conversations on organizing skills and drive training that coaches towards performance across disciplines. They also have demonstrated senior-level experience as a trainer and organizer, with a proven track record of strategically designing, building, and scaling training inclusive programs within electoral and advocacy environments. They will be able to lead and facilitate high-impact staff and volunteer trainings—both in person and virtually—that center collaboration, inclusion, and Reproductive Freedom for All’s values, and inspire meaningful action and leadership among participants. Finally, they have proven success using adult learning principles to drive measurable outcomes within diverse audiences, including increased skill development, deeper volunteer engagement, sustained leadership participation, and strengthened commitment to campaigns or organizational goals. The Senior Director of National Organizing will develop and implement holistic training curriculums across multiple and diverse audiences. They will collaborate with senior leaders across the department to define and execute a vision for scalable training programs that drive skill development, alignment, and impact across volunteer/member and staff audiences organization-wide. They will also lead the development and ongoing support of strong, mission-driven teams through thoroughly designed training initiatives.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience (6+ years) in effectively managing a high-performing and diverse team across multiple layers; specifically building trust, setting and communicating ambitious goals, holding yourself and others accountable to goals, and coaching towards results to improve and develop staff
  • Demonstrated experience (5+) of managing volunteer training programs for electoral campaigns or grassroots organizing programs, creating training materials and curriculums to further audiences’ skills
  • Experience in leading high-impact, inspiring trainings with a focus on high-quality instruction, clear norms and expectations setting, and excellent adult learning
  • Experience in leveraging data to indicate where coaching and support may be needed and drive towards metrics to increase volunteer and staff capacity
  • Understanding that coaching and development are the core of building excellent staff, volunteers and ultimately, the best voter outreach
  • Measurable success in training senior staff, organizers, and volunteers, and differentiating learning, delivery, and content across all three
  • Experience or prior training in developing inclusive and culturally competent volunteer training materials, both training decks and toolkits
  • Demonstrated commitment to Reproductive Freedom for All’s mission, values and goals
  • Readiness and enthusiasm to make connections with people of different lived experiences; success in managing teams of individuals with diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working with underrepresented communities

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver inspiring, high-quality training programs, across formats and scales, that equip staff and volunteer/member audiences with foundational and advanced organizing skills
  • Lead and expand cross departmental efforts to develop training content for capacity building skills and direct voter contact outreach
  • Work collaboratively with leaders across the organization to design and lead scalable train-the-trainer programs that equip organizers and volunteers/members with the skills, confidence, and tools to lead trainings independently
  • In close collaboration with the Senior Director of National Organizing, set the vision and strategy for cross-organizational training by partnering with coalitions and allied organizations to align on best practices, shared priorities, and continuous improvement
  • Set and drive a department-wide onboarding strategy in close collaboration with State Campaigns, National Organizing, and Digital Organizing leadership, ensuring all new Organizers are equipped with the skills, tools, and expectations needed to deliver measurable impact
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director of National Organizing, develop, implement, and execute on the program’s budget
  • Drive the development of standardized organizing resources, including templates, toolkits, and organizer-facing materials, designed for adaptation by chapter state and national program leads nationwide
  • Serve as a mentor and though partner to Organizing staff, fostering professional growth, leadership development, and a strong culture of learning
  • Manage, coach, and develop the Training Manager, with an eye towards developing high quality learning designers who are also both skilled educators and experienced organizing and campaign leaders
  • Actively assess team culture and performance, identifying key drivers of success and providing coaching and influence that help staff grow, improve, and excel
  • Lead evaluation and continuous improvement efforts, assessing training effectiveness and working across the Organizing and Campaigns department leadership to strengthen curriculum in response to program and staff needs
