About The Position

The Deputy Finance Director coordinates activities with other City departments and outside agencies; completes complex studies and analyses; directs and coordinates the operations of two or more divisions in the Finance Department; oversees procedural improvement programs; cash management and investment programs; develops reporting systems; and conducts research. This classification is distinguished from the department head in that the latter is responsible for planning organizing and directing financial services for the City as well as the entire Finance Department. The Deputy Finance Director exercises independent judgment and initiative in representing the Director within assigned areas of fiscal and management functions and acts on behalf of the Director in the event of absence. Work is reviewed by the Director through reports conferences and results achieved.
