About The Position

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to serve as the Executive Assistant, providing day-to-day secretarial and administrative support to the Deputy Director. This position will serve as a direct liaison to Board members and provide operational supervision/oversight for board meetings, board committee meetings, and hearings. This position will also coordinate support activities of other staff that relate directly to the Board Meetings and its Members. This is an essential position for the success of the daily work flow of the agency. The Executive Assistant is the primary Point of Contact (POC) for Excellent Customer Service throughout the agency. Additionally, this position requires the following: Exhibits strong policy analysis and technical writing skills. Proficient in event planning and demonstrates high level organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple high-level initiatives simultaneously. Exceptional communication, discretion, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Exhibits strong policy analysis and technical writing skills.
  • Proficient in event planning and demonstrates high level organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level initiatives simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in public sector regulatory environments, preferably in healthcare or professional licensing.
  • Experience working with boards, commissions, or governing bodies.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of state and federal laws, regulatory drafting, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership in a complex governmental organization.

Responsibilities

  • Providing day-to-day secretarial and administrative support to the Deputy Director.
  • Serving as a direct liaison to Board members.
  • Providing operational supervision/oversight for board meetings, board committee meetings, and hearings.
  • Coordinating support activities of other staff that relate directly to the Board Meetings and its Members.
  • Serving as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for Excellent Customer Service throughout the agency.

Benefits

  • Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.
  • As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.
  • You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
  • Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
