The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. The Director of Teacher Mentorship will play a critical role in improving the retention and effectiveness of new teachers across Texas through the design and implementation of effective mentoring programs. This individual will be part of the Talent Pathways division, which oversees the implementation of strategic staffing to maximize the impact of highly effective teachers, pre- and early-service teacher mentorship, and teacher pathways into leadership and administrative roles. This individual will oversee the planning, implementation and execution of the Preparing and Retaining Educators through Partnership (PREP) Mentorship program, including the development of the Texas Mentorship training. This individual will direct the planning of the field supervisor training pathway within the Texas Mentorship training suite. Additionally, this role will oversee the planning and execution of the training provider strategy, including overseeing the grant management of the ESC fellows grant. This position will require advanced strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement with senior internal and external leaders. The Director, Teacher Mentorship will directly manage two education specialists and report to the Director of Teacher Leadership and Advancement within the Office of Educator and System Support. Flexible work location within the state of Texas may be considered for qualified candidates.
