The Deputy Director serves as a senior leadership role in the Student Union, Events and Conference Services (SUECS) department and directly oversees the daily operations of the Student Union, Performing Arts Center, and events services functions across all campuses. This role is responsible for formulating policies and goals for events services and union programming, and directing the effective and efficient operations of the department. The Deputy Director also manages all main campus event space rentals, including budget preparation, evaluation, and future planning for annual event operations and revenue generation. This position acts as the departmental liaison with event partners, the NEIU Police Department, and University Technology Services, and serves for the Executive Director of Student Union and Campus Recreation in their absence. The Deputy Director leads the coordination of support services such as Production Technical Services, Catering, Facilities Management, University Police, and parking for events and special campus functions. They work closely with the Executive Director on departmental development, policy and procedure creation, new programming, facility improvements, and strategic planning.
