The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the safety and well-being of children and families through various services including child welfare, juvenile justice, community supports, foster care, and subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff investigate allegations of child maltreatment, and in juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and community programs for youth. The ACS' Nicholas Scoppetta Children's Center (NSCC) operates 24-hours a day, providing services for New York City's vulnerable children who have been removed from their parents/caregivers due to abuse or neglect. The Children's Center serves approximately 2,500 unique children annually as they transition to return home, stay with kin, or move into longer-term foster care. The Intake Unit is specifically responsible for ensuring that children arriving at the Children’s Center are welcomed, oriented, and properly logged into the system. The Deputy Director of Intake will report to the Senior Director of Intake and will help fill leadership gaps, allowing the Senior Director to focus on improving staff training, accountability, business processes, data management, and data analysis, particularly for children and youth with specialized or complex needs.
