The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the world's busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Department's main goal is to provide fire protection, emergency medical care, and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors in the five boroughs. FDNY members are sworn to serve and protect life and property and the Department works to continually educate the public in fire, life safety and disaster preparedness, along with enforcing public safety codes. This accomplishment requires a steadfast and daily commitment to maintaining the Department's core values. The FDNY Bureau of Strategic Initiatives manages key departmental initiatives and drives data-driven decision-making. Its Data Quality unit is responsible for generating actionable insights through analysis, reporting, and visualizations, while also ensuring accountability and transparency by compiling metrics for the Mayor's Management Report (MMR) and producing datasets for NYC Open Data. FDNY seeks a full-time Computer Specialist L4 who will report to the Director of Data Quality and Industrial Engineering and assist the Director in managing and providing crucial guidance and mentorship to a team of analysts responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of the Fire Department's data. The Deputy Director will actively foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development. The role's primary focus involves conducting and supervising data analysis, overseeing the creation of dashboards, and developing robust strategies for assessing data quality. The Deputy Director will also oversee processes around the MMR and Open Data. This position requires exceptional communication skills and the ability working with diverse stakeholders, including EMS and Fire Operations, to establish meaningful operational metrics. Furthermore, the Deputy Director must have proven prior experience supervising, managing, and mentoring analysts.
