About The Position

The Deputy Director of the HP Foundation & Head of Giving & Volunteering is a strategic leader responsible for advancing HP's global giving and volunteering programs while ensuring operational excellence across key Foundation initiatives. This role partners closely with the Executive Director to deliver Board materials, thought leadership, and strategic planning, while overseeing the contingent workforce and collaborating on financial and operational oversight tied to HP Foundation's 2030 goals . The role is critical in supporting the ways in which corporate philanthropy can help shape the Future of Work. The Deputy Director will champion employee engagement through volunteerism and philanthropy, manage critical programs such as 40 Days of Doing Good and We Day , and strengthen HP's social impact through effective governance and partnerships. In this capacity, the Deputy Director serves as the Foundation's global head of employee volunteerism, setting strategic direction for HP's company-wide volunteer engagement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 1 2 + years of experience in volunteerism, philanthropy, or social impact leadership in global, matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated coaching and talent development experience to foster high-performing teams, including specialized capability to develop contingent workers.
  • Recognized leadership in mobilizing employees through Business Resource Groups and volunteer programs with focus on equity, education, and digital transformation.
  • Proven ability to lead complex programs and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Experience overseeing the contingent workforce and building performance systems that ensure accountability and mission alignment.
  • Exceptional communication and strategic acumen for navigating governance, operational oversight, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainable development or related fields OR relevant , direct experience leading non-profit or other impact-driven organizations

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-lingual a plus, as is direct experience living and working in multiple countries
  • Preferred: Master's degree in sustainable development, organizational behavior or international business

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead HP's global giving and volunteering strategy as the Foundation's global head of employee volunteerism.
  • Direct flagship volunteer programs including 40 Days of Doing Good and We Day .
  • Drive employee engagement through innovative volunteer campaigns and equity-centered volunteerism initiatives that strengthen communities worldwide.
  • Prepare Board materials and strategic briefs for the Executive Director.
  • Author compelling narratives that articulate the Foundation's impact and translate complex data into accessible insights for governance and stakeholder audiences.
  • Contribute to governance priorities and long-term planning; represent the Executive Director on assigned initiatives and stakeholder engagements when needed.
  • Collaborate with Foundation leads to monitor financial health and operational performance.
  • Track and report metrics tied to HP Foundation's 2030 goals, maintaining a consolidated reporting cadence that enables data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Foundation operations and performance measurement.
  • Direct contingent workers responsible for: Giving and grants administration Disaster relief programs Volunteering ( 40 Days of Doing Good , We Day ) Communications and storytelling Programs and partnerships
  • Coach and develop the contingent workforce through structured performance frameworks.
  • Build cohesive, mission-driven culture across distributed teams.
  • Elevate engagement and excellence across non-traditional employment structures through influence and organizational development practices.
  • Coordinate with mission-supportive partners (e.g., Global Resiliency; Government Affairs & Public Policy; Global Product Compliance & Sustainable Impact Team; etc.) when relevant to Foundation priorities.
  • Work closely and in full alignment with wider Social Impact & Foundation team, supporting ways in which HP Inc. and HP Foundation can drive One HP alignment on impact and the Future of Work
  • Maintain clear swim lanes in all collaborative work.
