About The Position

Floyd County is looking for a Deputy Chief Appraiser at the Appraiser's Office. The purpose of this classification is to assist in directing the day-to-day operations of the Board of Assessor’s Office and perform the duties of the Chief Appraiser in their absence. This position involves managing property evaluations, overseeing mass appraisal functions, coordinating appeals, and supervising staff, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations while delivering high-quality service to the public.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, and five (5) years of experience in property appraisal, real estate, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must hold and maintain an Appraiser III certification from the Georgia Department of Revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the annual review and evaluation of property assessments and assists in preparing the annual tax digest.
  • Completes mass appraisal and re-evaluation functions; develops pricing and valuation schedules; ensures compliance with state laws and Department of Revenue regulations.
  • Manages all appeals; schedules and forwards appeals to the Board of Equalization and maintains appeal information; responds to property assessment disputes.
  • Attends Board of Assessors meetings; researches and prepares special projects; processes open records requests.
  • Coordinates the processing of forms and applications, supervises staff, approves leave time, processes payroll, and conducts performance appraisals.
