About The Position

This position functions as the second in command on Center and oversees the Career Services Program which includes Career Preparation, Counseling, Academics, Career Technical Training, Work-based Learning, and Career Transition. Provides oversight of student education and training to ensure student progress, retention and completion of the Job Corps program leading to quality full-time jobs, higher education, or advanced training. Has overall responsibility for student outcomes – student appearance, conduct, behavior, language, and statistical program achievement. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data. May be assigned as Acting Center Director in the Center Director's absence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two years in leadership position with direct reports.
  • Two years experience in Academics or Career Technical Training or related field

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Job Corps experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure approved curricula are taught in all academic and vocational classrooms.
  • Ensure effectiveness of CDSS functions and co-dependent outreach and placement outcomes.
  • Oversee training activities provided at off-center sites. This includes training quality assurance, safety standards, and related concerns. Administer training subcontracts as required.
  • Ensure CDSS staff adherence to PRH, SOP’s, corporate policies, contractual requirements, DOL policies, and State and Federal legislative requirements. Ensure all CDSS staff are trained on new applicable programs for Job Corps and revised DOL approved applicable SOP's.
  • Provide direct oversight and overall management of the Center’s Academic program including but not limited to staffing, personnel matters, TABE compliance, high school credential attainment, math and reading improvement, driver education, and OMS outcomes.
  • Monitor implementation of CDSS initiatives, measure achievements against objectives, and direct modification of plans as conditions warrant.
  • Maintain a quality communication system for reviewing and disseminating key correspondence from corporate, Job Corps Regional, and National Offices to students and staff, as appropriate.
  • Ensure implementation of activities that offer CSS, PYD, and WBL opportunities for students.
  • Ensure high quality PYD and CSS programming is an integral part of center life, particularly in CDSS areas.
  • Ensure program areas and systems are compliant with the Center contract, DOL directives and guidelines, program manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, Company standards, and related documents.
  • Engage community stakeholders to ensure program areas and systems meet Job Corps WIOA requirements (e.g., governmental entities, employers, labor unions, military recruiters, advanced training programs, community colleges, etc).
  • Participate in the staff selection process, conducting final interviews with candidates recommended for hire by the area manager.
  • Prepare and monitor functional department budgets.
  • Ensure all reports and required plans are submitted in a timely, accurate manner.
