About The Position

The Depot Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of goods between the depot and various delivery points within the United States. This position requires a dependable individual who can manage loading, transporting, and unloading cargo while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. The Depot Driver is responsible for maintaining the condition of the vehicle and ensuring that all deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule. This role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers. Ultimately, the Depot Driver contributes to the overall success of the supply chain by providing reliable and professional transportation services.

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle class being operated.
  • Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items safely, typically up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety regulations.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a depot or delivery driver in a logistics or transportation environment.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning software.
  • Customer service experience to effectively interact with clients during deliveries.
  • Certification in defensive driving or other safety training programs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods between the depot and designated locations.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring that items are handled with care and secured properly for transit.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery confirmations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse personnel to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
