Position Summary: The successful chair and program director will have the opportunity to expand curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students by engaging students and faculty as well as fostering and sustaining partnerships across the University and in the broader community. The successful chair will have additional opportunities to engage in and mentor graduate students in DPT related research and lead accreditation activities. From the CAPTE STANDARDS AND REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR ACCREDITATION OF PHYSICAL THERAPIST EDUCATION PROGRAMS: The program director provides effective leadership for the program, including responsibility for communication, program assessment and planning, fiscal management, and faculty evaluation/professional development. The chair is responsible for all administrative, curricular, co-curricular and budgetary facets of a large, growing graduate program department (~115-120 graduate students and Residents, as well as 11 full time faculty and staff). The position is on a 12-month contract and reports to the Dean of the School of Education and Health Sciences. Minimum Qualifications: The program director demonstrates the academic and professional qualifications and relevant experience in higher education requisite for providing effective leadership for the program, the program faculty, and the students. These qualifications include all of the following: Is a physical therapist who holds an active, unencumbered PT license in any United States jurisdiction and is in compliance with the practice act in the jurisdiction where the program is located (Ohio). Has earned an academic doctoral degree Holds the rank of associate professor, professor, clinical associate professor, or clinical professor. Has a minimum of six years of full-time higher education experience, with a minimum of three years of full-time experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE-accredited entry-level physical therapist education program. Evidence of Compliance Licensed or eligible for physical therapy licensure in Ohio Earned academic doctorate (e.g., PhD, EdD, DHSc, etc.) 3 years of clinical practice, clinical teaching or classroom teaching experience Successful experience or record of: Peer reviewed scholarship and research in the field of physical therapy Fostering collaborations across organizational lines Service to the department or broader university community Use of appropriate university management systems and technology Articulated commitment to breadth of education including educating the whole person in the Marianist tradition to support inclusive excellence and the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and a commitment to social justice and service to the community, university and profession Record of leadership accomplishments in higher education
