About The Position

The Department Administrator for High Point University’s Department of Physical Therapy is responsible for directly supporting the Department’s leadership, faculty and students. This person may also be asked to assist as needed in other areas of the department. This position requires exceptional organizational, people and communication skills. This position requires someone with the ability to exercise sound judgment, professional etiquette, tact, and patience. Requirements

  • Proficiency using various computer platforms and programs, including MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) (required)
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills (required)
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in an administrative setting (2-year experience preferred)
  • Experience in higher education (preferred)
  • Experience in budgeting (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the Department, School, and University
  • Supports the Department Chair with: supervising mail distribution placing work orders with Campus Enhancement and IT maintaining the Department calendar and providing access to appropriate stakeholders supporting faculty searches and new hire onboarding recording Department meeting minutes budgeting and expense reports
  • Supports the Director of Students with: organizing the Department’s admissions committee planning and organizing Graduation and White Coat ceremonies organizing the Academic Review Committee and maintaining appropriate records communicating with the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services (OARS) contributing to Department’s social media outlets tracking student time off requests updating the student handbook and student portal on Blackboard advisor assignments
  • Supports Department faculty with: ordering educational, research, and clinical supplies monitoring start-up funds cere tracking faculty time off
  • Supports Students with: directing student questions to appropriate personnel maintaining job board and assisting with job fair if necessary
  • Helping with other tasks as assigned by the Department Chair and Director of Students
  • Performs all job responsibilities, across all three academic pillars, independently
  • Reports directly to the Director of Students and the Department Chair
