About The Position

The Dentist position will play a key role providing quality dental care in our fast-growing primary care facility. The prime focus will be examining, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for infectious and injuries of the teeth and mouth. Carrying out the treatment plan in a competent and efficient manner is then expected. Essential Functions: Proficient in performing dental procedures including: examinations and related diagnoses, amalgam and composite restorations, root canal endodontic therapy, extraction of erupted teeth and roots, simple surgical procedures, and denture fabrication. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and have strong interpersonal skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for delivery of dental care. Proficiency in prescribing medications within the standard of care.

Requirements

  • An interest in treating a diverse group of patients with multiple medical conditions.
  • Graduate from an accredited Dental School/Doctoral Degree (DDS/DMD).
  • Must speak, write and read English proficiently.
  • Active dental license and controlled substance certificate
  • Active CPR certificate
  • Professional positive attitude, understanding of customer service principles, trustworthiness, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients’ intraoral & peri-oral hard and soft tissue condition, including caries, endodontic/periodontal pathology, soft tissue and developmental pathology.
  • Diagnose and treat emergency dental situations such as toothaches, broken teeth/restorations, dislodged crown/bridges, broken dental prostheses.
  • Have a working understanding of the link between oral health and systemic medical conditions.
  • Develop patient treatment plan, including preventive treatments, endodontic, periodontal, restorative, prosthetic, and when necessary appropriate referrals.
  • Typically, all or nearly the entire treatment plan should be done "in house", referral of complex endodontic, surgical and periodontal treatment is done after inter practice discussion of the case has been exhausted.
  • Exercises direct supervision of the assigned/designated dental assistants.
  • Attend dental provider meetings and participate in case study discussions.
  • Provide professional consultation to other staff dentists when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dental Director.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed presenting medical conditions.
  • Participate in data collection and other structured research programs.
  • Follows established department policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention and risk assessments.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform dentistry to the standard of care as established by national and state statutes.
