Position Overview: To provide optimal dental care that both addresses and reduces the oral health disparities among the population served by ONE Health Ohio. Under the general guidance of the Dental Director, the Dentist will encompass a range of skills including operative procedures and patient education along with the coordination of preventative policies and procedures.

  • D.S or D.M.D degree with current Ohio license
  • 1 year general practice residency or 2 years experience after graduating Dental School
  • Current DEA license
  • CEU hours that support the Ohio Dental Licensure requirement
  • Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
  • Communication skills using the spoken word
  • Ability to see within normal parameters
  • Ability to hear within normal range
  • Ability to move about

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors and ONE Health Ohio support staff.
  • Develop and discuss dental treatment plan for each patient.
  • Respond to patient complaints, concerns and questions in a positive, helpful manner.
  • Discuss any dental procedures with the patient prior to treatment.
  • Educate the patient about dental diseases, causes and prevention.
  • Complete dental progress note following treatment of the patient.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications as needed.
  • Provide clinical supervision for dental staff.
  • Follow CDC and Center guidelines concerning infection control.
  • Monitor patient flow, clinic utilization, show rates, hours worked, productivity and user reports.
  • Make recommendations to Chief Dental Officer based pon clinc observation regarding patient needs, staffing, equipment, facilities, supplies, services, productivity and requests for services.
  • Monitor compliance to standards and protocols as shown in provider audit results.
  • Perform privileged procedures according to current techniques in a confident and competent manner.
  • Uphold and participate in ONE Health Ohio’s Standards of Customer Excellence (Commitment to Organizational Compliance, Improving Organizational Performance, Diversity & Cultural Competecy, HIPAA, Workplace Standards, Training & Development, Safety & Rick Management and Customer Service).
  • Oversee that staff is completing equipment maintenance along with ensuring the equipment logs and Radiology Manuals are current at their office according to the recommended frequency by the manufacturer, Ohio Dept. of Health and ONE Health Ohio.
  • Clinical supervison of Dental Assistants, Hygenists and EFDAs
