About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Dentist to join their team of medical professionals at the Kilby Facility in Mt. Meigs, AL. This position is exclusively open to current AL DOC incumbent employees. As a Correctional Dentist, you will collaborate with correctional officers and other medical professionals to deliver dental care to incarcerated individuals. The role involves working in a controlled environment where security is paramount, offering diverse duties. This unique opportunity allows you to positively impact a diverse patient population with complex medical and dental needs.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or equivalent
  • Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification
  • Current DEA registration
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Technical skills in providing a full range of dental services
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical dentistry and correctional settings
  • AHA preferred for BLS CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring quality dental care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population
  • Diagnosing, treating, and providing preventative care for patients
  • Creating treatment plans and performing dental procedures, such as extractions and restorations
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient dental records
  • Collaborating with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ oral health needs
