Applicant must be graduate from an accredited Dental school. Current Dental Licensure in the State of CA (must be in good standing). Applicant must have at least 2 years of experience/training beyond the undergraduate level. At least 1 year of this must be either professional practice experience, in addition must give evidence of a good knowledge of current principles, practices, methods and techniques in dentistry. Must have or willing to obtain current CPR Certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross prior to orientation Applicant will work with various types of patients from the young to the elderly. Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian Culture and its needs. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Reads all routine x-rays taken by the assistants or hygienist, records findings in the patient’s chart, and discusses findings with patient. Completes appropriate forms legibly and thoroughly with signature, date and time. Treats oral manifestations of systemic diseases with appropriate consultation with the patient’s physician. Makes appropriate referrals to physician and documents referrals. Makes appropriate dental referrals, documents referrals and reviews post-operative reports. Handles patient concerns and reports them to the Dental Director. Responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the dental clinic. Monitors the patient flow throughout the day. Assures that all dental employees participate in training and continuing education programs, attends meetings and maintains valid licenses. Provides special, consultation, research, educational, and administrative services as requested. Participates in efforts between departments in the corporation to improve communication and implement policies for the overall operation of the clinic. Participate in outreach activities that promote dental health and awareness. Participate in in-services for CHRs and other departments as requested. Trains new personnel as assigned. This position shall require working on evenings and weekends, if needed. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: 1. Render dental treatment to patients in accordance with the practices and ethics of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Indian Health Service, and Riverside-San Bernardino County Indian Health, Inc. 2. Complete patient visit records clearly, legibly and thoroughly with signature, date and time. 3. Supervise and manage the dental staff including but not limited to: a. Assign, review and evaluate the work of staff ensuring performance of quantity and quality of work. b. Distribute information and implement directives from administration. c. Responsible for appropriate ordering, inventory and management of dental supplies and ensures that adequate materials are stocked. d. Participate in and/or conduct staff meeting and training. e. Responsible for creating safe workplace environment; one with open communication and attitude of teamwork and respect, where high morale is maintained. f. Maintains open communication with the staff to encourage proposals where efficiency and quality of patient care can be improved. 4. Appropriate referrals made to dental specialists when the treatment needed is beyond the capabilities of general dentist. 5. Participate in the Peer Review program, QM activities and UR Committee as assigned. 6. Submit productivity reports as assigned. 7. Participates in outreach activities promoting dental education and proper oral health care and maintenance.
