About The Position

The Fixed Model Room Dental Technician is responsible for creating, preparing, and articulating dental models from impressions for crown and bridge (fixed prosthetic) cases. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and consistency of all fixed department restorations and supports production processes to follow.

  • Demonstrated hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
  • High level organizational skills, time management skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong technology skills and the ability to leverage technology in work processes
  • Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and effectively handle interpersonal relationships with others
  • Strong communication skills, including written communication
  • Must be at least eighteen years of age
  • Must pass work eligibility requirements

  • Experience in roles requiring manual dexterity and precision handling of small tools and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret prescriptions included with each case, construct prostheses in alignment with doctors’ written orders and specifications.
  • Pour, trim, section, and articulate stone models from patient impressions with accuracy and consistency.
  • Fabricate models of the mouth and teeth based on impressions taken by dental professionals.
  • Follow the established daily case schedule and production goals to ensure timely progression.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, managers, and other departments to address case requirements or concerns.
  • Utilize and conserve supplies and equipment efficiently while performing tasks such as pouring stone, articulating, and processing.
  • Operate various hand tools and laboratory equipment including electric drills, lathes, presses, high-heat furnaces, sandblasters, paint brushes, grinders, and carvers.
  • Collaborate with quality control specialists to maintain and uphold product standards.
  • Adhere to established quality control protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify and report problematic cases or those requiring additional preparation.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and materials, including filling mixing bins and emptying receptacles as necessary.
  • Apply technical knowledge and judgment to achieve accurate results and support departmental goals.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by management to meet evolving business needs.
