About The Position

CAN Community Health is seeking a full-time Dental Hygienist for a day shift position, Monday-Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, with a salary range of $35-$44 per hour based on experience. The organization is dedicated to serving individuals impacted by HIV, Hepatitis C, STI's, and other infectious diseases, and has been recognized as NPT's Best Non-Profit to Work for Award for over six years. The role involves providing a range of clinical, administrative, and staff support within a dental service operation. Key responsibilities include assisting with dental and radiography procedures, preparing, cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining dental equipment and supplies according to established protocols and CDC, ADA, and OSHA standards. The hygienist will also coordinate initial patient evaluations, implement dental plans, and manage patient documentation and office support. The successful candidate is expected to promote and practice CAN Community Health, Inc.’s mission and values, display professionalism, patient-centeredness, and team collaboration, and comply with HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules. The role also involves reviewing and updating dental provider protocols, participating in Quality Assurance programs and Peer Review activities in collaboration with the Director of Dental Operations, and maintaining OSHA standards for bio-hazardous waste handling and infection control protocols. Communication with the Director of Dental Operations regarding maintenance and repairs of assigned dental equipment is also required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of dental hygiene
  • Licensed as a Dental Hygienist in the state of dental clinic location
  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • Dental Radiographer Certificate
  • Current valid BLS Certification
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a Level I and Level II Background check as required

Responsibilities

  • Provides a range of clinical, administrative and staff support to a dental service operation
  • Assists in the performance of dental and radiography procedures
  • Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, and maintains dental equipment and supplies in accordance with established protocol, procedures and policies aligning with CDC, ADA, and OSHA standards
  • Coordinates initial patient evaluation and implementation of dental plan
  • Responsible for patient documentation and office support
  • Promotes and practices CAN Community Health, Inc.’s mission and values and follows its policies and procedures
  • Display professionalism, patient centeredness and team collaborative attitudes and behaviors
  • Comply with HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules
  • Familiarity with CAN Community Health, Inc.’s program philosophies, goals, and objectives
  • Be cognizant of and comply with all CAN’s policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations
  • Review and update dental provider protocols and participate in Quality Assurance programs to minimize risk, in collaboration with the Director of Dental Operations
  • Participate in Peer Review activities as requested by the Director of Dental Operations
  • Report as needed to the Director of Dental Operations and Practice Administrator any pertinent information or situations that impact on patient care dental or clinical operations or CAN’s liability
  • Maintain OSHA standards regarding handling and removal of bio-hazardous waste, including bags and Sharps containers
  • Follow Infection Control guidelines and protocols according to CAN’s exposure and control plan
  • Inspects, reports and processes maintenance records of assigned dental equipment
  • Communicates with Director of Dental Operations any need for scheduled maintenance or repairs
