We provided excellent care with a compassionate touch.   This position is full time, days.   Responsible for direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services for dental patients. The Dental Hygienist position works collaboratively with the dentist and dental team to meet the oral health needs of patients and to achieve business objectives. This position uses independent judgment to promote dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing patient appropriate preventive medicament applications, conducting oral screenings, taking radiographs; charting conditions of decay and disease; and performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act. Responsible for complete and accurate clinical documentation; providing aseptic high quality oral care; sterile processing of contaminated instruments/equipment; the organization, stocking, cleaning, and general maintenance of dental units; and the conservation of resources. Assures smooth patient flow, explains insurance coverage/co-pays, obtains Medicaid Waivers, as needed, and provides clinic clerical support. Requires excellent skills in handling apprehensive or challenging to manage children. Requires the ability to work with medically, physically, and/or cognitively compromised patients. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree is required.
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate degree in Dental Hygiene or Applied Science degree with Dental Hygiene concentration or equivalent from a dental hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Successful completion of the Dental Hygiene National Board Exam and licensed as a dental hygienist in the State of Indiana.
  • Required to obtain 14 hours of continuing education every 2 years, with 50% of them in live presentation or live workshops.
  • Required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Requires ability to meet physical requirements of the job.
  • Requires the ability to treat patients with special health needs, cognitive needs, and/or those with extreme dental fear.
  • Requires fluency in the use of electronic medical records and digital radiology.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Dentistry experience preferred.
