About The Position

Job Summary: The Dental Hygienist provides professional dental care in the field of dental hygiene including all related clinical procedures. Has broad responsibilities for clinical and community dental health education activities. Essential Job Functions: Oral prophylaxis; oral hygiene instructions including proper tooth brushing, flossing, nutrition, as well as the need for professional care. Application of topical fluorides; placement of sealants; screen and evaluate patients regarding caries detection, periodontal pathology, oral cancer, and medical history. Expose radiographs; supra and sub gingival scaling and root planning. Procedures involving team periodontal surgical techniques; gross debridement in the treatment of acute periodontal conditions. Performing expanded duties where qualified; administration of local anesthetics. Carry out oral health assessment and record the medical history of the patient. Able to give preventive and therapeutic treatment. Accurately documents information in patient records. Attends to the needs of patients with the utmost patience, care, compassion and understanding. Primarily responsible for the initiation and maintenance of the dental prevention and dental education program. Assists in the training of dental assistants. Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Dental Hygiene
  • Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of practice
  • Maintain current CPR certification
  • Applicant must be willing to become licensed in additional states, other than the state currently licensed in
  • Applicant must be willing and comfortable with providing telehealth services to the individuals we serve
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
  • Annual maintenance of licenses, and certifications
  • ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Working knowledge of all phases of the field of dental hygiene
  • Skills in the techniques of oral hygiene procedures and the use of equipment, instruments, and materials
  • Knowledge and practice of preventative dentistry and ability to instruct patients individually and in groups
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff
