About The Position

The Dental Director collaborates with VFHC leadership to develop and ensure effective and efficient service delivery across service lines. This position takes the lead in standardizing practices in the Dental Clinic, ensuring appropriate clinical infrastructure, and providing perspective on issues of concern to the Dental Clinic and/or the organization. This includes input on strategic planning, clinical operations, program development and grant management.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
  • California Dental License and in good standing
  • At least 8 years dental care experience including use of electronic health record
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience to include recruitment, training, performance management, counseling and retaining an engaged and accountable workforce
  • Intermediate user of MS office
  • Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be granted where appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, hires, and manages dentists, dental hygienists, and Supervisor of Dental Services
  • Provides direct dental services to patients and maintains timely and accurate records in the electronic health record
  • Provides clinical oversight and supervision of all dental services in the Health Center to assure quality of care provided to patients
  • Creates, edits, and maintains policies, procedures, and protocols for dental services
  • Ensures compliance to federal, state, and local law, regulations, and standards for dental services
  • Reviews, analyses, and acts upon all dental financial budgets/reports and operational reports
  • Serves as a lead for dental integration into other areas of the Health Center and Village
  • Collaboratively responsible for creation, editing, and submission of all required/mandated grants, licensing, fiscal, State, and Federal reports
  • Attends, participates, and/or leads assigned operational/leadership meetings and projects to support high quality healthcare delivery, financial performance, and strategic planning
  • On time completion of assigned training and policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
