About The Position

The Dental Assistant is primarily responsible for preparing for upcoming appointments by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for the clinic dentist as well as initiating the appointment for incoming patients and performing routine dental cleanings in assistance with the dentist. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for taking and processing x-rays and scans. They assist the dentist during procedures by handing them instruments and anticipating their needs throughout the appointment. The Dental Assistant is responsible for teaching patients and families the importance of dental hygiene and providing recommendations.

Requirements

  • Excellent patient service skills to ensure patients feel comfortable as well as well-informed about treatment and dental wellness.
  • Strong technical skills in working with a variety of dental and scheduling software’s in the office.
  • Organization skills and well as focus on health and safety of working environment
  • Knowledge of dental instruments
  • Prior experience administering dental x-rays
  • Be self-motivated and provide care that exceeds patients and parents’ expectations.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Oregon EFPDA Certification
  • Current Radiology Certification
  • Current Sealant Certification
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Strict compliance with OSHA, HIPPA, and CDC
  • Repetitive use of hands to handle and control objects, tools or controls and fingers to grip, move or assemble small objects.
  • Ability to twist or bend their body for uninterrupted patient appointments.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain electronic and paper patient dental records.
  • Perform routine dental cleaning and assist the dentist with complex dental procedures.
  • Take and process X-rays of patients and record other important vital signs.
  • Advise patients on recommended oral hygiene.
  • Log clear and accurate chart notes.
  • Assist with routine maintenance in compliance and general upkeep of the clinic, including cleaning workspaces, sterilizing equipment and performing basic janitorial tasks to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
