Requirements

  • Six (6) or more months of practical experience as an orthodontic assistant.
  • Quick learner with problem solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Technical and troubleshooting skills for software applications used for charting, patient records, scheduling, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in fitting bands and brackets, tying in arch wires and taking consistent, accurate impressions.
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills and be a team player.
  • Commitment to being punctual and reporting to work on time.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the desire for professional growth.
  • Be organized and possess a superior knowledge of dentistry and dental terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage patients with respect and a smile.
  • Ensure patients are well informed and comfortable - before, during, and after their appointment - about their treatment and oral health.
  • Take panos and cephs, itero scans and intraoral photos.
  • Prepares and sterilizes treatment room and equipment.
  • Provide chair-side assistance to Providers during treatment procedures.
  • Documents orthodontic care services by charting in patients’ records.
  • Assist the orthodontist in assessing a patient's teeth and implementing a plan to straighten them.
  • Perform routine orthodontic duties, including cleaning and adjusting orthodontic gear.
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient-centric working environment.
  • Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations, (e.g, OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, Employee Handbook).
