About The Position

Advance Community Health is in need of an additional Dental Assistant to join our wonderful team of dental professionals. Under the direct supervision of the practice Manager and dentist, the dental assistant assists with oral surgery and other procedures. They prepare and arrange the necessary tools and instruments for scheduled procedures. Provides hands on chair-side four handed dentistry techniques assisting with the necessary tools and equipment that aids during dental treatment. The dental assistant also records dental findings, completes clinical charting and coding, and sterilizes equipment. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field of Dentistry.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • DA Certification from an accredited Program
  • Dental Assisting Experience Preferred
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge Dental software's, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Performance Management Systems.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish - written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure proper setup for dental procedures
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for treatment
  • Assist dentists during routine procedures under direct supervision
  • Pass instruments, suction, and maintain clear operative fields
  • Take and record vital signs and patient histories as appropriate
  • Expose dental radiographs (if certified) in accordance with North Carolina regulations
  • Provide post-operative instructions as directed by the provider
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and equipment per OSHA and CDC guidelines
  • Maintain sterilization logs and ensure compliance with infection control protocols
  • Ensure operatories are properly cleaned and stocked between patients
  • Accurately document patient interactions in the electronic dental record (EDR)
  • Assist with patient scheduling, confirmations, and follow-ups
  • Maintain inventory of dental supplies and notify leadership of shortages
  • Support front office functions as needed
  • Provide compassionate, culturally competent care to all patients
  • Educate patients on basic oral hygiene and preventive care
  • Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after procedures
