About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Demil Superintendent to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Demil Superintendent assists the Demiliterization Manager in planning and developing policies and procedures to establish goals for the organization. Enforce company policy and safety standards. Ensure demil operations are carried out in accordance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations; hazardous waste handling laws, rules, regulations; demil regulations and contract requirement. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. Typical Responsibilities Include: Assist the Demiliterization Manager in planning and developing policies and procedures to establish goals for the organization. Enforce company policy and safety standards. Ensure demil operations are carried out in accordance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations; hazardous waste handling laws, rules, regulations; demil regulations and contract requirements. Assign and direct Munition Handler Supervisors and crews in the disposition of unserviceable and/or dangerous ammunition/components and explosives by using approved methods in accordance with current directives. Ensure and coordinate the training of all assigned employees in the proper handling of explosive materials and ammunition. Ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations for the demil areas. Initiate changes to Standing Operating Procedures. Maintain required records on materials disposed of by demil procedures. Assist the manager in compiling reports on demil operations status, meteorological statistics, proposed/actual activities, project schedules, and accomplishments. Reports potential and known safety and environmental concerns to the appropriate personnel or department. Has the authority to recommend hiring, firing, promotion and change of status of employees. Provides input into safety, environmental and security requirements for Demil Operations. Ensures availability of resources assigned and/or allocated to Demil Operations for the execution of the mission, functions, and contractual requirements. Upholds company values (Safety, Diversity, Integrity and Success). Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years experience in ammunition maintenance, explosives operations, and hazardous/toxic waste disposal activities required.
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience required.
  • High school diploma/equivalent.
  • Intermediate knowledge of LMP ( Logistics Modernization Program )
  • Must be willing and able to be at work when scheduled, maintain a good attendance record, and work overtime.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a procedurally compliant environment.
  • Must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment and willing and able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment.
  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge of safety, environmental, security, contractual and regulatory requirements for Demil Operations.
  • Must have good knowledge of demil operations to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations; hazardous waste handling laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Must have substantial knowledge of demil operations and Hazardous Waste Treatment/Disposal.
  • Able to monitor production to actual proposed solution to achieve maximum output.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and compile reports re: materials disposed of by demil procedures, demil operations status, meteorological statistics, and proposed/actual activities, schedules, and accomplishments.
  • Able to research and have the foresight to properly staff for anticipated or projected workloads while adhering to the governing PWS and contractual requirements and must be able to prepare bid and pricing information.
  • Communicate in an effective and professional manner, in English, using all standard forms of business communication.
  • Must possess sufficinet computer hardware and software proficinecy to be able to perform all job duties in a timely, professional and effective manner.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certificates as required by Amentum’s Master Training Plan.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by the Hawthorne Army Depot Commander and HWAD O&M contract requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.
  • Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
