In this role, the Supervisor, Electrical Engineer will lead a team of electrical engineers in creating solutions to challenging opportunities to ensure our customers and communities have reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible power that they need for modern life. Examples of some of the job’s activities will include: Lead a team of electrical engineers in performing studies related to the transmission of electricity across Otter Tail Power’s service territory and its connection to the greater regional transmission system in the Midwest. Determine the best strategy for expanding the transmission and distribution system, presenting plans to senior management and company executives. Build relationships within Otter Tail Power as well as neighboring utilities to accomplish company objectives and goals. Represent Otter Tail Power on various stakeholder groups, collaborating with others to enhance and create processes.

Requirements

  • Superior communication and technical writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products will be necessary to successfully partner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Success in this position requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in power, or comparable work experience in transmission planning.
  • Strong leadership skills are necessary to supervise an effective team of electrical engineers to achieve company objective and goals.
  • Anticipation of problems, creativity in problem solving, and ability to evaluate courses of action are necessary to navigate challenges encountered in the position.
  • Knowledge of system planning principles, studies, standards, and engineering economics are required.

Responsibilities
