About The Position

North Carolina's courts contribute to community safety, economic prosperity, and the protection of rights and freedoms. The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC) invites individuals to join its workforce of over 7,000 elected officials and employees, dedicated to ensuring justice is administered fairly. The NCAOC is seeking an experienced delivery driver to join its team. This role involves working collaboratively to plan delivery routes and operate box trucks up to 24 feet in length. The primary responsibility is to deliver supplies and materials from the NC Judicial Center (NCJC) to courthouses and other judicial locations across all 100 counties in North Carolina. Additionally, the driver will pick up equipment, supplies, materials, and recyclables from these locations to return to the NCJC. The ideal candidate is reliable, dependable, a team-player, and possesses experience in box truck deliveries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of work experience, preferably as a delivery driver, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving practices
  • Knowledge of NC traffic laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of distribution services safety rules
  • Skills in reading, writing, and basic math
  • Ability to read and understand requisitions, freight bills, etc.
  • Ability to plan driving routes that make the best use of time and distance
  • Ability to drive a delivery vehicle up to 24 feet in length
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack
  • Ability to load a box truck with weight distribution evenly
  • Ability to back a truck to a delivery bay
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of commercial driving experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensure each pallet of material is wrapped with cellophane and load pallets in the truck using a forklift or pallet jack and ensure weight is distributed equally and all cargo is secure.
  • Review delivery records to find location and delivery details for each stop along the assigned delivery route.
  • Deliver supplies and other materials from the NCJC to courthouses and other judicial locations throughout all 100 counties of North Carolina.
  • Ensure delivery documentation is accurate and is signed by the customer(s) following deliveries.
  • Pick up supplies, surplus property, confidential files, equipment, etc., from courthouses and return to the NCJC for restocking and recycling.
  • Notify Distribution Services Manager of any customer concerns or issues resulting from a delivery.
  • May drive up to 700 miles per day.
  • May load and deliver up to 200 pieces of material weighing 7,000 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull materials 26 to 75 pounds without assistance and lift, carry, push and/or pull materials 76+ pounds with assistance.
  • Ensure delivery vehicles and equipment are clean, fueled/charged and properly maintained.
  • Complete and verify daily vehicle inspections and reports.
  • Serve as backup to warehouse distribution assistants as assigned by manager.
