About The Position

Highland Supply, Inc., est. 2010, is a family owned and operated, Michigan's largest private distributor of food service disposables, sanitation supplies, as well as offering products to many restaurants, office, retail and medical facilities across the state of Michigan from our three distribution centers in Highland, Gaylord, Grand Rapids. Through superior customer service, Highland Supply has experienced significant growth year after year and we’re looking to expand our team with the addition of another morning warehouse team member. Position Currently, the needs for this position requires about 30-35 hours per week with room to grow. Perfect for someone who needs to be off early or looking for a 4-day workweek. This position requires excellent customer service skills, punctuality and accuracy. A day in the life would be to arrive at work, punch in, help pick orders from inventory using pick tickets, verify your orders that have been picked and staged for your truck. Load the orders on your truck and deliver the orders based on a daily route sheet. Our products are paper goods, foam containers and janitorial supplies. Generally lightweight goods. 7:30am-2:00pm typical schedule, subject to end earlier or later some days, but flexible 30-35 hours per week with room to grow as we approach summer, our busiest time of year. Driving a Commercial Vehicle (16ft Box Truck or Sprinter Van) Work time: 6:00am start

Requirements

  • Team member must be able to lift at least 50lbs off the ground
  • Team members must be okay with a physical labor type of position
  • Employee is required to have or obtain a Chauffeurs License
  • Offer is subject to the successful completion of a DOT medical card exam
  • Employee must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from work on time

Nice To Haves

  • Preference to applicants who have prior experience with delivering goods or driving commercial vehicles
  • Preference to applicants with a DOT card and Chauffeur license in good standing. For qualified applicants, the company will pay to send you for a DOT medical exam and chauffeur license (written exam) -offer contingent upon successful completion.

Responsibilities

  • Picking and checking orders for accuracy and communicating any errors to the team
  • Loading your own truck using a ramp and dolly
  • Driving a delivery van (sprinter/promaster style)
  • Delivering product into restaurants, office buildings, medical offices and retail -using a dolly (upstairs, downstairs, main floor, front/back doors etc....)
  • Interacting with customers at each delivery
  • Driving the delivery route and following the instructions from the Operations Team
  • Putting away inventory
  • General warehouse housekeeping duties
