About The Position
The primary objective of the Deli Packager position is food packaging to support the Deli Department, contributing to a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees. Emphasis in this position is on providing proper preparation and display of product. The primary learning challenge involves product knowledge and tray assembly. This role requires physical activities such as lifting, walking, and standing, as well as social skills, verbal interaction, listening skills, judgment/decision making, reading, writing, and math. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. The Deli Manager, Assistant Manager, Production Assistant, or person in charge provides assignments and work direction.
Requirements
- Lifting/carrying up to 60 lbs.
- Equipment operation (box cutter, tongs, scales, wrapper, knives, cleaning utensils)
- Walking, turning, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, squatting

Responsibilities
- Responsible for food preparation
- Ensure proper assembly and follow garnishing for recipes
- Ensure proper handling, sanitation, freshness and quality of all product
- Follow tare weight procedures
- Fill and rotate deli cases and displays
- Ensure cases and displays are full, clean and attractive
- Maintain proper refrigeration, and handle product properly to avoid damage
- Code date product, and separate outdated or unfit product
- Set cases and displays according to instructions
- Maintaining of salad bar and hot bar
- Wiping down hot bar and salad bar
- Restocking of hot bar and salad bar
- Break down department and perform cleaning duties
- Wash/change salad bowls
- Break down, wash and sanitize full service hot bar and salad bar
- Clean cases, ovens and fryers
- Sweep and mop floors
- Use personal protective devices (cut resistant gloves, chemical resistant gloves, chemical splash goggles, poly gloves) as instructed
- Follow all store and department policies and procedures
