Responsibilities

  • Maintains an enthusiastic customer‑focused atmosphere with fast and friendly service.
  • Assists customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation recommendations.
  • Responds promptly and appropriately to incoming calls; resolves customer complaints and escalates to the Store Director when required.
  • Engages in suggestive selling using telephone, in‑store intercom, and one‑on-one interactions.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of all department functions and assists with preparation, cooking, and serving of food items.
  • Prepares sandwiches, salads, pizzas, hot/cold foods, and party trays following company standards.
  • Implements correct and efficient product preparation, cooking, and packaging techniques.
  • Safely operates department equipment including kitchen utensils, fryers, ovens (conventional/microwave/pizza), slicers, grills, food processors, scales, printers, and pallet jacks.
  • Maintains deli case cleanliness, visual appeal, and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Ensures the deli department and all equipment are clean, sanitized, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensures proper temperatures are maintained during food preparation, display, and storage.
  • Ensures work areas and the entire department meet sanitation and safety standards.
  • Assists in scheduling employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Supervises, trains, coaches, and assigns duties to department employees.
  • Helps identify high‑potential employees for advancement opportunities.
  • Provides training on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Assists with daily operational planning and monitors production processes aligned with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Understands all opening and closing procedures for the department.
  • Participates in preparation of sales and inventory reports.
  • Assists with physical inventory conducted every four weeks.
  • Controls inventory to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness according to division guidelines.
  • Stocks, rotates, and organizes product; maintains an organized and clean cooler.
  • Enforces proper code‑dating practices for all department products.
  • Builds displays, rotates product, and discards outdated or spoiled items.
  • Implements seasonal and promotional displays; may oversee salad bar, wing bar, or burger bar operations (where applicable).
  • Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Adheres to temperature, storage, and packaging requirements for all incoming product.
  • Accurately processes administrative paperwork and maintains required department records.
  • Follows all company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
