The Full-Time Deli Clerk role involves food preparation and guest service in a retail grocery store environment. The position is crucial in making mealtime easier and more enjoyable for guests by providing delicious meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including quick lunches, side dishes, fast food options, or meals for crowds. Requirements

• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
• Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
• Knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent guest service, including friendly greetings, answering questions, and addressing guest concerns with professionalism and care.
• Help guests locate items on or off the sales floor and professionally answer the Deli Department telephone.
• Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
• Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly using the boomerang principle to ensure a positive experience.
• Inspect, rotate, maintain proper temperatures, and replenish all deli products on display to ensure high standards.
• Maintain proper inventory levels in the deli storage, including containers, lids, spoons, tags, and more.
• Lead by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
• Ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
• Maintain regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and provide adequate notice for occasional absences.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.
