About The Position

Join the Festival Foods Team as a Full-Time Deli Clerk! This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food service and cooking, who enjoy providing customers (referred to as guests) with delicious meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As a Deli Clerk in a retail grocery store environment, you will play a crucial role in food preparation and guest service. Festival Foods aims to make mealtime easier and more enjoyable for guests, offering a variety of options from quick lunches and side dishes to fast food for dinner or catering for crowds.

Requirements

  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
  • Knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent guest service, including friendly greetings, answering questions, and addressing concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Help guests locate items on or off the sales floor and professionally answer the Deli Department telephone.
  • Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
  • Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly using the boomerang principle to ensure a positive experience.
  • Inspect, rotate, maintain proper temperatures, and replenish all deli products on display to ensure high standards.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels in the deli storage, including containers, lids, spoons, tags, and more.
  • Lead by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
  • Ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
  • Maintain regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and provide adequate notice for occasional absences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.
