Job Summary: Caterpillar Defense sells across a broad product line that includes machines, off-road vehicle engines, marine engines, power generation, switchgear, and aftermarket support to include parts and rebuilds of legacy military machines. The Defense Inside Sales Representative - Switchgear/Power Systems to be located in Alpharetta, GA will oversee and coordinate all technical inquiries for Switchgear products. These inquiries will originate from the global dealer network to support Installation Energy projects.

Requirements

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail (Extensive Experience required): Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. Evaluates and makes contributions to best practices. Processes large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy.

Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.

Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort. Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.
  • Technical Excellence (Working Knowledge required): Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues. Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.
  • Project Management (Working Knowledge required): Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects. Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for complex technical engineering problems and may be accountable for the design or improvement of complex systems or processes.
  • Responsible for all Caterpillar Defense Electric Power switchgear quotes for Caterpillar Dealer executed projects.
  • Support account manager team by providing detailed Comply, Deviate, Exception (CDE) documentation for Switchgear project quoting activities.
  • Demonstrate Caterpillar Defense value and lower risk for project execution.
  • Clearly articulate technical proposals internally and externally, while identifying solution gaps versus specifications (CDE).
  • Communication may include white papers and technical presentations for both internal and external audiences.
  • Satisfy Caterpillar Defense internal and external contractual and regulatory compliance requirements. This includes supporting % domestic content calculations as they apply to Federal flow down requirements.
  • Ensure customer decision makers have been fully exposed to the features/benefits available from Caterpillar products, dealers, and marketing before they finalize purchasing decisions.
  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies and drive continuous improvement to established techniques.
  • Analyze and determine the optimum technical solution for each project to promote the full suite of Caterpillar products and services.
  • Train, assist, and guide dealers to promote Caterpillar switchgear products in support of increased scope and value-added sales.
