About The Position

The Instrument‑Automation Technician A is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, electrical, and automation systems in an offshore oil and gas environment. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations by ensuring control systems, communications, and power distribution systems function as designed and remain compliant with all regulatory requirements. The technician works closely with operations, maintenance, and customer representatives while maintaining a strong safety‑oriented mindset and high technical standards. Candidates should be open to international rotational assignments on a 28‑day on / 28‑day off schedule, as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of instrumentation and electrical experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably offshore
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC systems, particularly ControlLogix 5000
  • Proficiency with ladder logic
  • Experience with DCS systems, preferably Honeywell Experion
  • Valid TWIC card

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with telecommunications systems
  • Experience with Kongsberg marine systems or similar platforms

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair electronic, computerized, and diagnostic testing equipment.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot pumps, electrical motors, instrumentation systems, communication systems, power distribution systems, and automatic control systems.
  • Maintain instrumentation and control systems to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems, including hardware and software components such as: Allen‑Bradley and GE PLC platforms
  • HMI software packages including Wonderware, Rockwell Automation, Inductive Automation, Citect, and GE
  • Support system configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities related to automation and control systems.
  • Maintain a strong safety‑oriented mindset at all times.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety standards, procedures, and permit requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing regulatory compliance for assigned systems and tasks.
  • Assist in the development and execution of I&E maintenance plans.
  • Complete all mandatory documentation and paperwork required by customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform accurate recordkeeping and maintain files related to work performed.
  • Maintain organized work areas and properly managed platform systems.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills in a team‑based offshore environment.
  • Communicate clearly with operations, maintenance, and supervisory personnel regarding system status and work activities.
