About The Position

The Dean of Students is an educational leader who works closely with the students and develops a trusting relationship with them that allows them to be a resource to the students if they have problems. The Dean is responsible for implementing student award activities and orchestrates student extra-curricular activities. The Dean is the primary school disciplinarian.

Requirements

• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent office administration skills; including written and oral communications skills
• Knowledge of No Child Left Behind and all appropriate state and district school law regarding discipline
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, students and parents
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Ability to multitask
• Interpersonal skills
• Skilled in Microsoft Office
• Ability to lift 20 pounds

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree and three years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, resolve and enforce consequences for student misbehavior.
• Report individual student circumstances to the proper authorities as required by law and maintain supporting documentation as necessary.
• Provide a quarterly board report on disciplinary statistics to the Principal.
• Communicate with parents in a timely manner regarding student behavior issues, infractions and consequences.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
• Schedule detention supervision (ISS, behavioral and academic) and supervise as necessary.
• Organize and supervise student activities (Anchored4Life)
• Develop and implement ideas, rewards and programs to encourage a level of participation by the students that is conducive to a fully engaged and participating student body.
• Other duties as assigned
