The Data Center Operations Administrator I is an entry level role that is responsible for deploying infrastructure, monitoring system health, and making repairs to servers in a Linux-based environment. The right person for this role will be someone comfortable being hands-on with hardware when necessary, and who brings a solid foundation of Linux understanding and experience.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Linux operating system
  • Adept at conducting research into product- and service-related issues
  • Customer service skills an asset
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Should be able to deliver creative and innovative thoughts and solutions
  • Work collaboratively and efficaciously as a team member
  • 6 months -- 1 year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Responsibilities

  • Monitor systems’ health
  • Perform acquisition & deployment
  • Rack and configure servers
  • Install and configure operating systems
  • Perform cabling
  • Install devices (switches, PDUs, etc.)
  • Perform server repair (physical/software layers)
  • Attend to problem escalation
  • Ship/receive equipment/RMAs
  • Perform data center inventory/asset tracking
  • Maintain a safe/clean work environment
