About The Position

The DC/MM IT Support Technician Intern is responsible for providing equipment repair assistance to the Menards's Distribution Centers and Midwest Manufacturing departments; along with being an integral part of the IT Support team. You will assist in troubleshooting, repairing, and preventative maintenance work on the technical equipment; while also gaining great experience. The schedule for this position is flexible and we work with your school schedule! The position requires 15-20 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Requirements

  • Obtaining an Associate or Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Networking, Communications Technology or equivalent (Candidates must be enrolled in a College/University)
  • Knowledge of operating systems, such as Android, Windows 10 and Windows 11
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge and experience with printers (multi-Functional and laser)
  • Excellent performance interpersonal skills; customer service skills; organizational skills; and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous in demanding situations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a group
  • Must be able to work 15 - 20 hours per week between the hours of 8A - 5P Monday - Friday
  • This internship is part-time and runs until you graduate
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds for warehouse pickup and delivery duties
  • Must work within normal office hours at the Menards Distribution Center (remote work is not offered)
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, presently and in the future, without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Configure and install hardware and peripheral components, such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives
  • Repair and perform maintenance on company owned computers and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot basic network related issues
  • Enter commands and observe system functions to verify correct system operation
  • Perform generic and basic tests on connectivity and application launches
  • Recommend or perform remedial actions to correct problems and documents issues
  • Unpack equipment and pack equipment for shipping
  • Provide updates and completion information to manager and/or Team Members
  • Prepare paperwork to document work in progress, completed work and other necessary tracking paperwork; submit paperwork on a timely basis to department management
  • Routinely works aloft on ladders with hand tools and test sets
  • Follow established company policies regarding safekeeping and security of equipment under repair
