About The Position

Our Day Care Center at Albany Med is seeking a caring and compassionate infant teacher to join our team! The Infant Teacher is responsible for the overall planning and implementing of the activities, supervision and management of an infant classroom.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or a Child Development Associate Credential
  • Pre-K classroom experience minimal of 1 year
  • Able to communicate with parents, children and staff on routine matters for the purpose of supplying information related to performing job.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one session to parents.
  • Must exercise tact and discretion to obtain cooperation and understanding on routine matters.
  • Knowledge of NYSOCFS regulations
  • Knowledge of kindergarten requirements
  • Must have working knowledge of early childhood development.
  • Ability to organize resources for effective utilization.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and performs work effectively with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to exercise judgement in the analysis of facts and circumstances to determine actions to be taken in accordance with standard policies and practices.
  • Ability to plan and perform diversified duties working from detailed instructions and under standard procedures.
  • Ability to work and plan with other teachers in a team setting.
  • Able to withstand some degree of prolonged standing and walking.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with each child in the group in a warm, loving way on a daily basis.
  • Implements positive, supportive methods of behavior management to nurture and foster each child’s feelings of confidence, competence, and self-direction.
  • Responsible for monthly, weekly and daily planning and implementing of all indoor and outdoor activities for the classroom.
  • Plans are to reflective of established Albany Med Kids curriculum and lesson planning procedure and policy.
  • Ensures the preparation of supplies and materials are prepared on a daily basis.
  • Ensures that the health, welfare and safety of each child in the class are maintained.
  • Immediately reports all accidents involving a child to the teacher, and a member of the administrative team.
  • Accurately records all details of the accident on an incident report, as outlined in Albany Med Kids’ Employee Handbook.
  • Participates in all aspects of custodial care of children as well as classroom.
  • Responsible for each child’s development of self-help skills through adequate supervision and encouraging children to accept gradually more responsibility in the areas where appropriate.
  • Maintains parent classroom boards and other channels of communication with parents.
  • Responsible for clear communication with parents and appropriate notification of administration.
  • Serves as a positive role model for the children and co-workers.
  • Attends and contributes to monthly and weekly staff meetings.
  • Attends workshops, conferences or and in-service training on an annual basis. (15 hours professional training per year as required by NYSOCFS)
