About The Position

The Day Services Supervisor supervises the delivery of services to adults with developmental disabilities, aiming to help individuals live happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives. This involves assisting with living skills development, health maintenance, medication administration, personal care, and behavioral development. The Supervisor works alongside and supervises Direct Support Professionals in various settings including Day Programs (living skills & pre-employment training), Home & Community Based Services (in-home care and supports), and Vocational Rehabilitation (vocational skill training and job placement). Responsibilities also include budget management, data collection, and staff supervision reports. Working under a Team Leader or Senior Team Leader, the Supervisor ensures services meet Agency standards, creates service plans with individuals, families, and government representatives, and completes necessary documentation to comply with state rules and guidelines. The Agency emphasizes an uncompromising commitment to quality and integrity, with duties varying in intensity and frequency, from daily total care to frequent or occasional verbal and emotional support. Occasional coverage and assistance within the geographical area may be required. Additional responsibilities include program management (ensuring effective operation, meeting individual needs, documenting compliance, maintaining files, assisting with teaching and behavior support plans, directing spending, reporting maintenance issues, and responding to emergencies), staff management (supervising staff, scheduling, participating in hiring, providing coaching, completing performance agreements, implementing discipline, training on individuals/programs/procedures/regulations, and auditing timesheets), advocacy (assisting with personal goals, overcoming barriers, facilitating participation in activities, respecting beliefs/choices/interests), health maintenance (promoting health, facilitating medical care, administering medications/procedures, recording health info, providing First Aid/CPR), personal care (assisting with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, toileting, mobility), living skills development (teaching cooking, money management, shopping, laundry, hygiene, work-related skills, job preparedness, job search/maintenance, and developing natural supports), behavior development (role modeling, coaching, using approved physical intervention techniques), operational support (maintaining cleanliness, driving company vehicle, completing tasks beyond individual abilities, handling money), and professional behavior (acting professionally, communicating effectively, completing/providing training, attending meetings).

Requirements

  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, bend, squat, turn in the knees, back, wrists and shoulders, and grasp with both hands (in order to perform CPR/First Aid, Client Intervention Techniques, (SCIP) and Lifting and Carrying Techniques).
  • Must be able to see and hear with or without correction.
  • Be able to communicate effectively.
  • Have basic computer skills, such data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Be able to complete the Agency training programs and successfully pass associated tests to meet competency requirements.
  • Must pass a TB test twice.
  • Be prepared for atypical schedule (The Agency operates programs and services 365 days a year).
  • Be prepared for possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Be prepared for possible exposure to profanity, violent, and/or offensive behavior from the individuals.
  • Be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Be age 21 or older (Supervisors are required to be drivers.) and must meet the qualifications of a driver as established by our insurance carrier and the Agency policy.
  • Be able to pass a background check and receive a fingerprint clearance.
  • Be able to provide 3 verifiable non-family references including 1 previous employer.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Registered Nurse in a related field with minimum 1 year supervisory experience in the field.
  • OR Associate’s Degree in related field with a minimum 2 years supervisory experience in the field.

  • Minimum 5 years experience with related population and minimum 2 years supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the delivery of services to adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Provide assistance with living skills development, health maintenance and medication administration, personal care, and behavioral development.
  • Supervise and work alongside Direct Support Professionals in Day Programs, Home & Community Based Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Manage budget, data collection, and staff supervision reports.
  • Ensure that services are being provided at the standard set by the Agency leadership.
  • Meet with individuals, family members, and government representatives to create a plan to deliver the services needed.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork to document the progress of the individual and to demonstrate that the program operates within state rules and guidelines.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities to our high standard of quality.
  • Provide coverage and assistance within geographical area when needed.
  • Ensure that the program is operating effectively and required activities are being conducted.
  • Ensure that individual needs are being met.
  • Document that the program follows state rules and guidelines.
  • Maintain individual files and records.
  • Assist in teaching and behavior support plans.
  • Direct the spending of program money.
  • Report facility and vehicle maintenance issues.
  • Respond to individual and program emergencies.
  • Supervise the staff and lead their activities with the individuals.
  • Schedule the staff to meet the needs of the program.
  • Participate in the hiring process and recommend candidates for hire.
  • Provide coaching and feedback, and complete staff performance agreements.
  • Implement staff discipline as needed.
  • Provide training on individuals and program activities and agency procedures and protocols and OPWDD regulations.
  • Collect, approve, and audit staff timesheets.
  • Assist individuals with achieving personal goals.
  • Work on behalf of individuals to overcome barriers.
  • Help individuals participate in activities of their choice.
  • Respect individual’s personal beliefs, choices, and interests.
  • Provide care and assistance to promote good health.
  • Help individuals receive medical care and communicates with medical professionals, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Administer medications, medical procedures according to physician instructions.
  • Record information regarding health events, conditions, and status.
  • Provide First Aid/CPR and seeks emergency medical care when needed.
  • Help individuals with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, and toileting.
  • Assist individuals with their mobility including lifting them from a seated or lying down position, helping them walk and maintain stability.
  • Help individuals develop living skills such as cooking, money management, household shopping, doing laundry, personal hygiene, etc.
  • Teach work-related skills and job preparedness.
  • Support individuals in job search process and maintaining job performance.
  • Assist with developing relationships connected to natural supports and records progress on skill development and achievement.
  • Serve as role model and mentor, demonstrating the desired behaviors.
  • Coach the individuals using approved techniques and strategies.
  • Use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to protect individuals and others.
  • Maintain cleanliness of program.
  • Drive company vehicle to transport individuals to their activities.
  • Complete tasks that are beyond the individual’s abilities.
  • Follow policies and procedures for handling money.
  • Act in a professional manner and visionary manner and communicate effectively with others.
  • Complete training programs.
  • Train others as required and attend required meetings.
