About The Position

The Day Program Coordinator implements and monitors all programming for individuals with disabilities and special needs, focuses on planning activities, staff development, monitoring staff performance, and maintaining all curriculum materials to enhance the physical and mental being of the individuals. They also will coordinate person-centered planning with the Automotive Service Coordination.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and special needs
  • Valid SC Driver's License
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lift and transport individuals and ability to lift at least 50lbs frequently
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field

Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for administration, scoring, and interpretation of assessment tools used for evaluations, program placement, and designing programs for individuals needs.
  • Sets up each individual's daily schedule.
  • Monitors workshop to insure programming is being carried out.
  • Assures that carryover training is implemented as needed for each individual's needs.
  • Assists in accountability during vocational training on an as needed basis.
  • Coordinates programming with trainers.
  • Plans, coordinates and attends activities of adult individuals.
  • Attends initial Burton Center staff orientation, staff meetings, in-services, and workshops that are necessary to enhance job performance.
  • Transport individuals on trips to and from Burton Center when necessary.
  • Substitute Van Driver as needed
  • Physically assist individuals as needed, such as transferring, toileting and feeding.
  • Requests assessments from staff in a timely manner
  • Complete Annual, Quarterly, and Daily Reports per Day Program Standards
  • Monitors goals monthly and update as needed.
  • Pass Medications as needed
  • Keep filing in charts up to date
  • Assist in rooms/workshop as needed
  • Practice & model appropriate use of time to trainer
  • Knowledge of characteristics of individuals with disabilities and special needs.
  • Knowledge of modern teaching practices and procedures as related to individuals with disabilities and special needs.
  • Knowledge of the principles of guidance and counseling.
  • Knowledge of appropriate assessment tools available and the ability to administer them.
  • Ability to be professional with the public and co-workers.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
