About The Position

The Day Janitor plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment within a manufacturing facility. This position ensures that all workspaces, common areas, and restrooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to support operational efficiency and employee well-being. The janitor will be responsible for routine cleaning tasks as well as addressing any immediate cleanliness issues that arise during the day shift. By upholding high standards of hygiene and orderliness, the Day Janitor contributes to compliance with health and safety regulations and helps create a positive workplace atmosphere. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently while supporting the broader manufacturing team’s goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies, with the ability to follow safety instructions.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Certification in the safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate floor cleaning machines and other janitorial equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
  • Sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and common areas to maintain hygiene standards and prevent the spread of germs.
  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to spills, debris, or other cleanliness issues to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down areas for meetings or special events as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment appropriately during cleaning tasks.
