About The Position

The Center Staff member is a key role within the PACE Day Center in Olathe. This position supports the day-to-day operations of the center and the delivery of high-quality, caring services to participants. The individual will assist with participant check-in and out, coordinate with the interdisciplinary team, support day‐center activities and logistics, ensure the environment is safe, welcoming and compliant, and engage in participant support as needed. The role demands a compassionate, organized individual who can multitask in a busy, service-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: compassionate, patient, respectful, and able to relate to older adults and their families.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and multitasking ability; able to shift priorities quickly.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, assist with mobility, push wheelchairs or walkers, help participants transition safely (with training).
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with scheduled therapies, meals, social activities and transportation logistics.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., check-in system, electronic logs, email).
  • Commitment to upholding participant dignity, independence and safety.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred (for occasional escort or support).
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25-30 lbs (for assisting participants or equipment) and to assist with participant mobility (with training).
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies, assist in evacuations and follow safety protocols.
  • Able to pass background check, drug screen, and any credentialing required by the program.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in senior services, adult day care, healthcare support or activity facilitation.
  • Experience working with older adults or individuals with physical/cognitive limitations is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet participants on arrival; assist with check-in and orientation to daily schedule.
  • Support transportation arrival/departure logistics in coordination with drivers (ensuring participants are safe, transfers are handled properly, communication to team when needed).
  • Assist participants in moving between the center, therapy, meals, social activities—ensuring dignity, safety and comfort.
  • Coordinate with nursing, therapy and social work staff to monitor participant presence, changes, or concerns and report observations appropriately.
  • Assist with maintaining the center environment: ensure cleanliness, organization of the space (waiting area, activity rooms, dining, restrooms), replenish supplies, remove hazards.
  • Assist in meal service: help set up, serve, cleanup under direction of dining staff or nurse/ADL staff; monitor participant dietary restrictions as noted by team.
  • Support activity sessions: help facilitate group/social activities, escort participants to/from activities, assist participants with mobility, seating, or transitions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records: attendance logs, transport logs, incident or change reports, center schedule boards.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and safety protocols: infection control, emergency preparedness, falls prevention, privacy (HIPAA) and participant rights.
  • Assist with orientation of new participants, welcome families, respond to inquiries about the center’s schedule or services.
  • Participate in center‐wide team meetings, huddles and trainings; engage in continuous improvement efforts, giving feedback for better participant experience.
  • Serve as a back-up in absence of other center staff for basic duties (e.g., front desk, check-out) when needed.
