About The Position

Under the direction of the Day Camp Director, the Day Camp Programs Coordinator will prepare, develop, and implement day camp programs for ages 5-18 in after care; working along-side K-3, 4-6 and Teen Directors. This person is responsible for after care and providing structured programming during after care hours. This person will assist in supervising specialty counselors and helping plan and implement specialty programs and also supervising all staff members assigned to after care on any given day during after care hours. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a Bachelors degree in Education or Recreation related field or working towards related degree. Camp experience preferred.
  • Must have experience working with and implementing programs for children.
  • Must enjoy working with young children.
  • Must possess and maintain current First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Must be fluent in speaking and writing English.
  • Must be able to walk up to 2 miles on uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid, USA state issued drivers license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.

  • Camp experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, develop and implement programs for all ages while working alongside other team leads and specialty counselors. (This may include but not limited to art/science projects, teaching camp songs, planning skits, etc.)
  • During Day Camp months of operation (June-August), responsible for assisting in closing and operating of after camp.
  • Responsible for taking photos and videos of programs and keeping track of media we can share with the public.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized and sanitary environment.
  • Assist in the success of all Youth Programs as needed.
  • Maintain a healthy, professional working relationship with all staff under supervision.
  • Assist in planning and implementing of Day Camp Staff Training.
  • Assist in planning, implementing and evaluation of Youth Programs for ages 5-18.
  • Help create and ensure that staff have and adhere to weekly program schedules.
  • All other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as required
