About The Position

We are hiring remarkable summer camp staff to serve our waterfront areas! Join our summer camp team and make $450 per week. Working at a Girl Scout camp offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of youth while enjoying a rewarding and adventure-filled summer. As a camp staff member, you’ll play a vital role in helping girls grow in confidence, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships in a supportive environment. We are seeking high-energy lifeguards who will monitor campers' safety and wellbeing in the pool and during water activities, acting quickly and follow proper protocols if safety is compromised. Successful candidates will share their enthusiasm for outdoor camp adventures while guiding girls to a safe, fun pool and water sports experience. Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Excited to be outdoors and work with youth.
  • Experience in teaching, guiding, and working with children.
  • Interested or experienced in camp and guiding youth in a variety of activities.
  • Energetic and has a desire to grow future girl leaders.
  • Certified or able to become American Red Cross Lifeguard certified, or certification from another organization having equal standards.
  • Certified or able to become Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
  • Visual/auditory ability to respond to environmental and other hazards.
  • Ability to respond calmly in a crisis situation.
  • Excellent customer service, including the ability to maintain a calm demeanor with adults in conflict.
  • Willing to stay in Dane, WI for the entire summer and live onsite.
  • Willing to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
  • Available June 15 th -July 25 th , 2026.
  • The employee must be able to withstand: Living and sleeping in a rustic outdoor environment. Working irregular hours: early mornings, nights, and weekends. Lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds. Walking, hiking, and working outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.

Nice To Haves

  • Waterfront Module preferred.
  • Small watercraft experience (kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding) preferred.
  • Experience in an aquatic setting: lake setting experience or certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lifeguard the waterfront events, supervising campers and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of each individual.
  • Teach, lead, and/or supervise paddling activities.
  • Participate in drills and skills practice for the lifeguards.
  • Conduct daily check of area and equipment for organization, safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
  • Report needed repairs.
  • Lead the opening and closing of the waterfront.
  • Ensure adherence to Wisconsin ATCP 78 and GSUSA Safety Activity Checkpoints for Water Activities.
  • Lead responsibility toward preservation of natural resources at the waterfront site.
  • Help campers and volunteers follow directions and rules.
  • Supervise participation of campers in structured and unstructured activities.
  • Help with daily camp operations as needed, and as time permits (e.g., flag and fire building activities).
  • Provide assistance to other areas of camp when requested.
  • Help to ensure that the value of experiencing camp is achieved: keeping campers focused, engaged, and motivated to learn new skills.
  • Maintain the highest level of safety during activities.
  • Supervise and assist with camp cleaning, sanitation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Help each Girl Scout learn to respect the rights of others and appreciate themselves and others.
  • Ensure implementation of Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Comprehend and implement emergency procedures through regular practice drills.
  • Maintain the health and safety of campers.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for both campers and other staff.
