About The Position

Job Objective: Provide a safe environment for children participating in the Summer Day Camp Programs. Essential Functions: Assist in the supervision of program participants in small groups as they participate in program activities as developed and implemented by the ministry program team Participate with campers in a positive, encouraging, age-appropriate manner As needed, assist in the implementation and clean up after scheduled activities Initiate activities as needed Protect the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of all program participants Encourage and promote positive relationships amongst all day camp staff Create and lead an environment that helps children and youth maintain control so that they can manage their own behavior in a socially appropriate manner. Provide appropriate discipline for children and youth as needed As needed, serve as a point of contact for parents/care givers of youth enrolled in day camp Follow, enforce and promote all rules, policies and procedures The Salvation Army Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Requirements

  • Minimum 9th grade education completion, at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be well organized
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
  • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities
  • Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Include vision, hearing, and speaking; actively participating in indoor and outdoor activities with children, standing for long periods of time; walking, running, bending, reaching; lifting up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with children preferred.
  • Driving: None, but driving would be a help.
