About The Position

Pointer Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient database solutions. Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proficiency in relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
Strong knowledge of SQL, database design, and normalization techniques.
Experience with data warehousing and ETL tools (e.g., Apache Nifi, Talend, Informatica).
Familiarity with cloud database solutions such as AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, or Azure SQL Database.
Knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization strategies.
Strong understanding of database security, backup, and disaster recovery processes.
TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required

Nice To Haves

Experience with big data platforms like Snowflake, Redshift.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for database deployment.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Certification in database technologies (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain scalable database systems for high-performance applications.
Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and schema design.
Develop and manage ETL pipelines to ensure seamless data flow and integration.
Collaborate with software developers, data scientists, and business teams to support data needs.
Ensure database security and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Perform regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and failover testing.
Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and provide on-call support as needed.
Research and implement emerging database technologies to enhance efficiency and scalability.
