About The Position

The Database Compliance Engineer is responsible for oversight and assisting AIC Substation and Relay Departments in maintaining compliance data including SERC/NERC/FERC regulations and other local, state, and federal regulations related to maintenance testing. This Engineer works with Substation Maintenance, Substation Design, Relay Maintenance, System Protection and Construction Supervision to establish procedures to promote effective setup and transfer of data into the testing databases to mitigate compliance risk. Key responsibilities include: Manage substation and relay testing databases (e.g. Maximo, PowerDB, Powerbase, etc.). This includes setup and modifications to the databases. Maintain and Support Asset Health software (APM) including submitting and tracking changes and corrections. Create and run reports on the databases to ensure testing data is being stored correctly and compliance data is present. Work with other compliance engineers, Maximo, and PowerBase groups to ensure all compliance testing dates are met. Assist with external and internal inquiries/audits including ICC, SERC and Liberty requests. Create and maintain Substation and Relay Database documentation.Assist in driving a culture of compliance for all AIC stakeholders involved in reliability compliance activities. Provide oversight for the AIC Substation group concerning SERC/NERC/FERC/ICC regulations as required. Assist AIC Substation and Relay Departments with managing documentation, compliance activities, and risks for other local, state, and federal regulations as needed. Use automated tools to generate, monitor, and report progress on compliance activities, implementation plans, and mitigation plans for SERC, NERC, and FERC Standards and Regulations. Assist the Manager, AIC Reliability Standards Compliance with developing and leading AIC's reliability standards (NERC, SERC, FERC, etc) compliance program, including tracking, planning, and facilitating all related activities and coordinating with other AIC/Ameren Departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University is required.
  • Relevant utility experience preferred (e.g. compliance, utility engineering, transmission or distribution operations, transmission planning, substation design, substation maintenance, system protection, relay maintenance etc.).
  • Experience with substation or relay equipment preferred.
  • Experience with substation and relay testing databases preferred (e.g. PowerBase, PowerDB, Doble Database).
  • Relevant experience is preferred but will consider recent graduates.
  • Ability with technical and software database support.
  • Knowledge of querying and manipulation of databases.
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communications skills and computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with conflicting priorities and stressful situations in a team-oriented environment required.
  • This position works a standard day-shift in an office environment but may also need to work off-hours for database support and other reasons.
  • Proficiency with all standard Ameren office software required.
