About The Position

Markon’s partner company is seeking a Database Engineer to design, build, optimize, and support enterprise database solutions supporting critical business and mission applications for an IC customer.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI w/ Full Scope Polygraph
• 3+ years of database engineering, database administration, or data platform experienStrong proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts
• 3+ years of experience with one or more database technologies such as: PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server
• Experience with performance tuning (indexing, query optimization, execution plans)
• Knowledge of backup/recovery processes and data protection strategies
• Experience troubleshooting production issues and supporting operational environments

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, and indexes
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Monitor database health and performance; identify bottlenecks and implement tuning strategies
• Support database deployments, upgrades, migrations, and patching activities
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure system continuity
• Enforce data integrity, security controls, and access management aligned with best practices
• Collaborate with application teams to support integration, troubleshooting, and data modeling
• Automate routine database operations and monitoring tasks where possible
• Create and maintain technical documentation for database configurations, processes, and runbooks
